Sri Lanka Railways lists Fort as the zero-kilometre point of the Coast Line, with Secretariat Halt at 0.666 kilometres.

About Fort (Colombo 1)

What is known about it.

The development plan describes the present Fort and Pettah areas as the planned city laid out by the Portuguese in the fifteenth century, with the Fort holding the administrative functions.
The 2008 amendment to the City of Colombo Development Plan zoned the central business district as a Concentrated Development Zone in order to promote high-rise development.
